Reports: Chicago Ford plant to add jobs

January 25, 2010 (CHICAGO) The jobs are expected to be a part of the plant's shift to make the redesigned explorer sport utility vehicle.

Ford is spending hundreds of millions of dollars in Illinois to launch the smaller, more fuel-efficient SUV.

The company has been retrofitting the Torrence Avenue plant for months. An official announcement is expected Tuesday morning when Governor Quinn joins Ford executives at the facility.

The new Explorer is set to go on sale later this year.
