Town cracks down on texting while driving

Police in Sterling, Illinois, in the western part of the state are cracking down on drivers texting in a school or construction zone.Sting operations are in progress. Many drivers say they are not aware of a month-old law prohibiting talking on the phone or texting around schools or in construction zones.

Drivers are getting warnings right now.

There are serious penalties for those prosecuted for causing an accident while using cell phones and handheld devices.
