Report: Scott asked about expenses before his death

January 30, 2010 (CHICAGO) Scott's body was found in the Chicago River November 16, 2009.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the day he died, Scott spoke with the mayor's press secretary, Jacquelyn Heard. The two reportedly scheduled a meeting to discuss some questionable expenses that Scott and his staff had charged to his Board credit card.

Saturday, Mayor Daley called the article "totally irresponsible."

"[It is] a phony headline to some way relate a conversation between anyone on my staff and Michael Scott and some way conjecture, some way, that this conversation had anything to do with his suicide. I feel sorry for them," Mayor Daley said.

Heard confirmed Saturday afternoon that she spoke to Scott but also raised objection to the Sun-Times headline, which reads, "Hours Before His Suicide: City Hall's 13-minute call to Michael Scott."
