"He just run behind and then shot four times and then run," said Saron Pow, witness.
Witnesses said the 15-year-old eighth grader and at least three of his friends were headed to school when a gunman opened fire on the boys. They were in front of a corner convenience store in the 4400-block of North Hazel Street when the shooting occurred; the victim was struck in the arm.
The group ran to their school- which was about five blocks away- for help. School officials called 911.
The teen was transported to an area hospital in serious condition. No one is in custody for the shooting.
