A man allegedly stole a Rockford police car while he was in custody.
The suspect was still wearing handcuffs as he drove the speed limit from Rockford to Chicago with police following behind. He was finally stopped at Noble and Division and taken into custody at about 3:30 Tuesday morning.
The man will be charged with auto theft and faces several additional traffic violations.
