Study: Chubby babies have more health problems later on

February 12, 2010

Chunky babies often grow up to be obese teenagers. The extra weight puts them at higher risk for type-2 diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

A new study indicates there is a tipping point in obesity which often occurs before a child reaches the age of 2.

Researchers at Eastern Virginia Medical School suggest doctors should aim to prevent obesity in young patients.

The research appears in this month's issue of the journal Clinical Pediatrics.
