Daley to interview aldermanic candidates

February 20, 2010 (CHICAGO) The ads reported that the mayor was seeking two Chicago residents who would like to join the 50-member city council.

Candidates were asked to submit a cover letter, a resume, and three letters of recommendation from community leaders.

The deadline was Friday.

"This is an era of technology. And many a time, people communicate though various technologies. And why not? And you meet some interesting people. Besides that, you get some good ideas from them as you interview with them," Daley said.

The vacancies exist because 1st Ward Ald. Manny Flores resigned to head the Illinois Commerce Commission and 29th Ward Ald. Ike Carothers has pleaded guilty to accepting kickbacks.
