Another Chicago-area school district is bracing for drastic cuts to close a multimillion-dollar budget deficit. The Elgin-area school District U-46 board laid out details of proposed cuts Monday night. The district is proposing to layoff hundreds of teachers and staff, cutting programs and classes and closing an early childhood center to save more than $31 million.
