Stephen Guzman, 25, was convicted of theft Jan. 26.
Guzman was also given an additional year in jail as his probation was revoked on a 2004 burglary sentence.
Police say Guzman was caught after they received an anonymous tip that a truck was being stripped near 22nd Avenue and Stevenson Street in Gary. A helicopter patrol spotted a black truck sitting on blocks with missing wheels and Guzman rolling a wheel away.
