The first 3-D TV sets are on sale. The sets by Samsung are now available for pre-order on both the Sears and Amazon Web sites.

The 46-inch model sells for about $2,600. The 55-inch set is priced at around $3,300.

Viewers have to wear 3-D glasses to get the full visual effect.

DVD players that play 3-D movies are not expected to be available until later this spring.

Direct TV plans to offer 3-D channels later this year. And ESPN and the discovery channel plan to launch some 3-D programming.
