February 26, 2010 --The family of a man murdered in an identity-theft plot has won a $6 million jury award against the estate of the Lake Barrington businessman suspected in his slaying and the suspect's wife. In Febraury 2008, police say 40-year-old Ari Squire killed 20-year-old Justin Newman to fake his own death and collect on a $5 million life insurance policy. A month later, police caught up with Squire at a motel room in Missouri. When officers knocked on the door, he committed suicide.
Squire's wife, Denise, has not been charged in Newman's death.
But the civil jury, in reaching its award, found that she was aware of her husband's plot.
