Train bound for Chicago hits fire truck

March 1, 2010 (DETROIT)

Police say 76 people were on board the train when the accident happened Monday morning. The fire truck and a police car were stopped on the tracks to help a family involved in an earlier crash.

Witnesses say the Amtrak train sounded a whistle that it was coming, but the truck's driver could not move the $600,000 ladder truck on time. A firefighter had minor injuries.

Several people on the train suffered minor injuries.

Wolverine Train 353 left Pontiac Monday morning at 10:40 a.m. and was headed to Ann Arbor, then Chicago. It was due into Union Station at 4:16 p.m.
