City considers driver's ed program

March 2, 2010 3:09:17 PM PST
The next time you run a red light in Chicago, you might be sent to traffic safety school.

Currently, drivers have to pay a ticket when they get caught by one of the city's red light traffic enforcement cameras. On Wednesday the city council traffic committee will consider a proposal requiring motorists to complete a driving education program.

Alderman Ed Burke introduced the proposal. He believes it would reduce repeat violations and save lives.
