Sunday, a judge denied bond for 28-year-old Johnny Borizov and Jacob Nodarse, 23, who were being held at the DuPage County jail Sunday evening.
Prosecutors say Borizov talked Nodarse into committing the murders and that it all stemmed from a custody dispute between Nodarse and Angela Kramer. She was inside the Darien home the night of the murders but survived by hiding in a closet.
Visitation was being held Sunday until 9 p.m. at a funeral home in Downer's Grove for the victims. All three were shot and killed in west suburban Darien Tuesday.
"The investigation has revealed it was Angela Kramer and Michael Kramer were the primary targets," said Jeff Muntz, asst. DuPage Co. state's attorney.
"I cannot make any comment about the allegations at this time other than to say they are simply allegations, and everyone needs to remember that," Borizov's attorney, Marc Wolfe, said.
The alleged gunman, Nodarse, is being be charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy in committing a murder. His attorney was not present inside the courtroom Sunday. In Florida, he said, "I just kind of have to shake my head over what is going on here."
Prosecutors say Borizov asked Nodarse to kill the Kramers, especially 25-year-old Angela, who escaped by hiding in a closet and calling 911 on her cell phone.
According to prosecutors, Borizov was involved in a custody battle with Angela over their 13-month-old son, Nicholas.
ABC7 news partner, the Daily Herald, obtained sealed court documents that indicate a court hearing was to be held this week in the case, but the documents do not shed light on any contentious issues.
Borizov has an alibi for the night of the murders; he was at the Empress Casino in Joliet gambling.
"The investigation is going to go on for some time. It is a very serious offense, a very gruesome crime scene," Muntz said.
"We are maintaining Mr. Borizov's innocence, that he is absolutely not guilty of these charges," Wolfe said.
Borizov's parents released the following statement:
"We stand behind Johnny...we love him and will support him and are secure in his innocence."
Funeral services for the Kramer family victims will begin with a mass Monday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Carmel church in Darien.
