Report shows soda sales down

An industry trade group releases a report Monday showing sales of soda and other soft drinks in schools have dropped sharply since 2004.

The Wall Street Journal reports that local restrictions and voluntary guidelines adopted by the companies are helping drive down demand.

The reports shows a 95 percent drop in full calorie soft drinks, a 94 percent decline in juice drinks, and a 47 percent drop in diet soda.

Experts say it is a sign that efforts to improve nutrition in schools are making progress.
