Dr. Yves-Mario Piverger is a family doctor at Metro South Medical Center's South Holland clinic. He lived in Port-Au-Prince for eight years when he was a child.
On Tuesday medical staff, employees and volunteers at the metro south center in blue island presented him with checks.
The money will go toward helping build clinics and purchase mobile treatment centers for the people of Haiti as they recover from the earthquake.
