Hero kid scares off home invaders

March 10, 2010

The boy locked himself and his 6-year old sister in a bathroom before he made the call.

Dispatcher: "Can you tell me what happened?"

Caller: "They come they ring the door and they have guns and they are going to shoot my mom and dad."

Dispatcher: "Right now?"

Caller: "Yeah can you come really fast bring the cops and soldiers.. a lot of them."

Dispatcher: "Listen to me hun I have them coming okay."

Caller: "Listen to me take a deep breath I already have the police coming.

Caller: "and bring soldiers too."

Dispatcher: "Listen hun I have them coming. How old are you?"

Caller: "I'm 7 years old."

The men found the boy and his sister, but the boy told them he called 9-1-1, and they ran away.

Los Angeles County dispatcher Monique Patino was on the other end of the line trying to calm the boy. She has two children and said the call brought her to tears.

"The difficult part was hearing the fear in the kid' s voices screaming for help. So all I did was think of my two kids and talk to him like if I were one of their family members," said Patino.

No one was hurt and nothing was taken from the home.

The suspects remain at large.
