That's according to a study presented at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons meeting. It found arm pain among young athletes is on the rise with one study showing a five-fold increase in serious shoulder and elbow injuries among youth baseball and softball players since 2000.
Reasons for the rise in injuries include, specializing in a sport, or position at younger ages and year round sports.
Experts say simple rest, cross training and stretching the throwing arm after play can honestly prevent a lot of these injuries.
