City to create 'green' jobs for ex-convicts

March 11, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Mayor Daley spoke about the program at the Center for Green Technology Thursday. He says it's important to not stigmatize people who have paid their debt to society and he explained why he feels it's necessary to help former inmates re-enter the workforce.

"No one wants to talk about it, but I think this is vital if we want to rebuild our society. We cannot leave many, many people out," said Daley.

The mayor emphasized that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Program has led to the creation of more than 650 jobs in Chicago.
