Study: People leave germs on surfaces

March 16, 2010

Scientists say people are colonized with billions of microbes both inside and out the body.

Scientists swabbed computer keyboards of volunteers to show that each person left not only a trail of unique bacteria but one that lasted. The technique was 70 to 90 percent accurate.

The hope is our germs could also help forensic scientist's identify who's been where and that could help solve crimes.

The study appears in the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
