It happened before a judge could rule on the defendant's request for lower bond.
Alejandro Flores is charged with sexually assaulting the boy over a 5-year period which started when the child was 8.
Right now Flores is being held on $1 million bond.
The hearing on whether to lower that amount will resume Thursday.
Until recently, Flores served at Holy Family Church in Shorewood which is west of Joliet.
