No charges for breeders accused of running puppy mill

March 19, 2010

In February police raided the breeding business in St. Anne that was operated by sisters Karen Brownfield and Pat Gorecki.

Police took more than 53 dogs from what they called filthy conditions. The Humane Society ended up with the dogs.

The Kankakee County state's attorney's office is expected to make a statement on Monday about why the charges are being dropped.

The accused breeders expressed relief Friday night and said they want their dogs back.
