Members of the Northwest Illinois Area Local held an informational picket Tuesday afternoon in front of the Palatine processing and distribution center.
In April, the post office plans to move the sorting of first-class mail to the Carol Stream facility and truck it back to Palatine in the evening to be processed.
Postal officials say consolidating the operations of the two facilities will make mail processing more efficient and save money.
