A 39-year-old man was trying to cross the street when a car struck him, then continued eastbound on 130th Street. He was in a coma Sunday night.
Shortly after the accident, another driver stopped to help when he realized what had happened.
"I noticed a person laying with his legs in the air in an awkward position that didn't look natural. So, I said, 'Oh my goodness. That's a body.' Then, I saw the vehicle slow down, wondered if I should speed up to look for the plates. Then I thought, wait a minute. If this person's hurt, I'd better call 911," said Anthony Brown.
Brown stayed with the victim until the ambulance arrived.
Police are looking for a light-colored car, possibly a Chrysler 300, with extensive front-end damage to the passenger side.
