A full military funeral was held for Stanley Arendt Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
Arendt's brother and sister received his remains last week. A group that looks for lost soldiers recovered the remains in 2004 but it was several more years before they were identified.
Arendt, who was 22, was among a group of U.S. soldiers captured and executed when the enemy overran their position in North Korea.
