Lacorbek Benion is now charged along with his mother, Timera Branch, with first-degree murder.
Kane County investigators say Branch intentionally drove a car into Keyes, crushing the 17-year-old's body against a building. Benion allegedly beat Keyes to death with a baseball bat while he was pinned by the car.
If convicted, Branch and Benion could be sentenced to life in prison.
