April 7, 2010 --Ill. Governor Pat Quinn and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley met Tuesday to discuss the jobs of dozens of Illinois state troopers. The new state budget proposed by the governor includes trooper job cuts, which would force Chicago police officers to patrol the city's expressways.
Daley says the department cannot spare the nearly 200 officers needed for expressway patrols.
After the one-hour meeting, the governor agreed the troopers would continue monitoring the city's 53 miles of expressways.
