Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance

The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance-Greater Chicago (DBSA-GC), a nonprofit 501c3 organization, was founded in 1985 in Chicago by two ladies who told their psychiatrist that they felt it was essential to their recovery to meet others who shared their experience. He put them together and they formed a grass roots organization. Currently, there are 450 chapters and 1,000 peer led support groups across the nation. Each year 75,000 individuals and their families' receive services. Headquarters remain in Chicago.
