The mayor of Harvey has been named schools superintendent for the town's district. In a 4-3 vote, Mayor Eric Kellogg was put in charge of Elementary School District 152 in the south suburb.

Two of the school board members voting for Kellogg are his relatives. The other two are on the city payroll.

Kellogg is currently the district's assistant superintendent. He'll start his new job July 1.

One of two finalists for the job, the mayor is replacing Superintendent Lela Bridges, who has led the district for 15 years.
