According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the landing took place just 7.5 miles northeast of the Gary Airport.
There were four people on board. No one was injured and the plane was not damaged.
The pilot says he was heading from Michigan to Iowa when the plane's engine lost pressure and was forced to land the plane on the beach.The FAA is investigating the incident.
