Coalition raises awareness of human trafficking

Illinois Rescue and Restore dhs.state.il.us/rescueandrestore is a coalition of agencies including the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Salvation Army.

On Monday the coalition announced it will hold the 5th Annual Human Trafficking Outreach Day on Saturday, April 24th. Hundreds of volunteers will distribute information about human trafficking in communities across Illinois.

"Today we want to extend an invitation to everyone in Illinois to learn more... its victims... end to this crime," said Grace Hou, asst. sec., Ill. Dept. of Human Services.

The U.S. government estimates up to 17,500 people are trafficked into the United States every year for labor or sexual exploitation.
