The mayor joined the high school students who planted a Ginko tree on the campus on the Southwest Side. Some of them are involved in an after-school program focusing on landscape design and construction. They gave the mayor a tour of the grounds where they have built several gardens.
The mayor spoke about Chicago's city's Trees Initiative, a public-private partnership that helps plant and care for trees in the city's neighborhoods.
