Wounded soldier returns to Chicago for charity run

April 30, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Soldiers, police officers and members of the Patriot Guard greeted Pedro Medina as he arrived at Midway Airport Friday. He then received an escort to his Northwest Side home.

Medina was injured last year while serving in Afghanistan, but after several operations and months of rehab he's walking again.

"The support I got from the city, and of course my family, is what made it possible for me to be here today," said Medina.

The Run to Remember benefits the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation which helps families of fallen officers.
