Multiple injuries in Southwest Side pile-up

Witnesses said a blue and white van triggered a pile-up around 3:30 p.m. Friday at South Kedzie and South Archer on the city's Southwest Side. Five vehicles- a van, two SUVs and two cars- were involved.

Nine people were injured. Three of them are pedestrians, police said.

The victims were taken to local hospitals

  • 3 adults and 1 child are in critical condition at Stroger Hospital;
  • 2 adults are in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital;
  • and 3 people are in good condition at St. Anthony Hospital.
  • Two other people refused treatment at the scene, police said. Several CTA buses that use Archer had to be rerouted because of this accident.
