Mumbai terror suspect gets trial date

May 11, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Rana pleaded not guilty in January.

Judge Harry Leinenweber set the date, acknowledging that defense attorney Patrick Blegan can request more time once he receives all the government's evidence.

The judge said the November trial date is tentative and could be changed.

Rana and Chicagoan David C. Headley are accused of plotting the Mumbai attack that killed 163 people and an assault on a Danish newspaper that published a cartoon image of the Prophet Muhammad. Headley pleaded guilty and is cooperating with the government.

If convicted, Rana faces life in prison.
