Critics: Development wrong for Wrigleyville

May 14, 2010 (CHICAGO)

They are upset with 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney, who is in favor of the project at Clark and Addison, across from Wrigley field.

The $100 million plan calls for building a Hyatt Hotel, parking garage, retail stores and apartments.

The high-rise hotel would be over nine stories, and the project would displace eight local businesses, including the iO theater, once known as the Improv Olympic.

Opponents say the development would destroy the character of the neighborhood.
