An indictment accuses the Kane County coroner of allowing a TV set to be taken from a man whose death was investigated by the coroner's office.

Chuck West faces five counts of official misconduct.

Prosecutor Charles Colburn says West failed to perform his mandated duties and didn't properly dispose of a 24-inch television taken from the home of a Carpentersville man who died in 2007.

West has denied wrongdoing. He has said the TV was being stored for the deceased man's family.

West's attorney hasn't returned a call seeking comment Tuesday.

West is due in court on May 27 and faces up to a five-year prison sentence, if convicted. West was elected coroner in 2000.
