Police are searching for the man who attacked an 11-year-old girl in north suburban Evanston.

It happened Tuesday morning in the 1100-block of Clark Street.

Police say the girl was on her way to school when someone grabbed her and dragged her into the bushes. The girl fought off her attacker and called police. She told investigators she recognized her attacker.

"There has been previous contact. Brief conversations have transpired between herself and a few days before this event at the train station at Davis Street," said Cmdr. Tom Gunther, Evanston Police Department.

The offender is described as a black man around 40 years old with a mustache and light complexion.
