The Pioneer Press newspaper reports the unidentified person tried to post the $50,000 bail for Erin Hughes Tuesday night. But because she's unable to surrender her passport the 18-year old may have to stay another night in jail.
Hughes is charged in a hit-and-run accident on Friday that left her classmate, 16-year old Sarah Goone, with a critical brain injury.
Hughes claimed she did not see Goone when the crash happened.
