The first-ever mandatory safety standards for baby bath seats include tougher stability requirements, tighter leg openings, and a more prominent label warning parents to never leave a baby alone in the water.
Various baby bath seats are blamed for 174 drowning since 1983 and 300 non-fatal incidents.
Safety First, the largest maker of baby bath seats, currently does not have a model that would meet the new standards.
They go into effect in 6 months.
