Daley suggests Weis should consider pay cut

May 19, 2010 (CHICAGO)

On Tuesday, Weis said he's open to the idea when he negotiates a new contract. The superintendent makes more than $300,000 a year. The mayor says his own salary has dropped because of unpaid days off that are part of budget cutting moves.

"I think it's important that everybody sacrifice, for the people of our city, our state and our nation. If you don't, then people are living in a different world, they don't realize that people are suffering and people are suffering," said Daley.

Superintendent Weis' three-year contract expires next March. He took the job after a long career in the FBI.
