A North Shore estate that was once the home of former U.S. Senator Charles Percy has been demolished.

The Kenilworth home, also known as the Windward, was the site of one of the nation's most widely publicized and still unsolved homicides.

In 1966, Percy's daughter was murdered.

Percy sold the home a year later.

Local historians say they are sad to see it demolished.

The Kenilworth Building Review Commission said the structure did not meet requirements to make it a landmark, and thus made it eligible for demolition.
