Cancer patients can benefit from yoga

May 20, 2010

New research finds that even cancer patients getting the most modern therapy can also benefit from yoga.

Many cancer patients complain of fatigue or trouble sleeping.

Researchers at the University of Rochester studied 140 of these cancer survivors.

Half received regular monitoring and the other group took part in a month-long yoga program consisting of meditation, gentle poses and breathing exercises.

The yoga group reported less fatigue and a better quality of life.

They not only slept more soundly but need less sleep medication to do so.
