Demonstrations against possible schools cuts

May 25, 2010 (CHICAGO)

The demonstrators rallied at school board headquarters and then marched to city hall.

Chicago school officials have warned that they will have to cut staff, eliminate programs, and raise the number of students per classroom.

That is because the schools already have a budget deficit of hundreds of millions of dollars, and the general assembly may make new cuts to school funding.

The demonstrators include members of the Chicago Teachers Union, community organizations, and education advocates.
