Summer vacation is here but a sales tax holiday in August has many parents already thinking about 'back to school.'

The Illinois General Assembly will offer a sales tax holiday on school supplies from August 6-15. Parents buying clothes, shoes and most school supplies will pay only 1.25 percent.

The state will lose as much as $60 million in lost tax revenue but lawmakers hope the tax break will encourage people to buy more.
