Shorter hospital stay may hurt heart failure patients

But a new study in the journal of the Journal of the American Medical Association questions if the shorter stays might be worsening overall outcomes.

According to the JAMA report, the risk of dying increased, the need for nursing home care increased or patients needed to be readmitted back to the hospital.

Researchers say it's not just important to focus on success in the hospital but to follow up with care that helps ensure patients remain healthy once they leave.
