A mainstay of the Chicago musician scene, Dot Dot Dot performs over 150 dates nationwide each year at night clubs, festivals, college parties, concert halls, and private events. Now the band is giving back to the city that supports then through their own charitable foundation Hearts and Stars. Inspired by Jonny Imerman, a cancer survivor and founder of Imerman's Angels, Dot Dot Dot wanted to be part of their cause. So on Saturday, June 5, the band is hosting a benefit concert for Imerman's Angels, imermanangels.org, a Chicago-based not-for-profit organization that enables one-on-one cancer support by connecting cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers.
Joining Stephan (drums), Little Lisa (bass), Adam (vocals), Rose (guitar) and Michael (keyboards) performing at the concert will be other Chicago based musicians: The Insecurities, The Lifeline, and DJ Greg Corner of Kill Hannah. Chicago's #1 local music show, Local 101 (WKQX), is sponsoring the event and Chris Payne will host.
"This will be a night of unity," says Adam. "It will truly assist many people and give everyone involved something to be proud of. This is the night we all get our wings!"
The benefit concert starts at 8 pm on Saturday, June 5 at Metro, 3730 N. Clark St. Chicago. (RELEASE) Meet Dot Dot Dot, an unparalleled band from Chicago with spectacular chemistry that proves they can blend original music and cover songs into a supercharged show of incredible force that will speak directly to the hearts of everyone. For most independent bands, performing 400 shows, selling 30,000 units, and promoting themselves on a TV series is something of a dream. But for Dot Dot Dot, it's business as usual. And what makes them even more exceptional is that they've been able to do all this and more in only three short years without record label support.
Adam Blair (vocalist and songwriter) is charming on record and frantic on stage, full of the spirited presence that makes for an undeniably compelling front man. Rose (guitar) and Little Lisa (bass) are inspiring, accomplished players, while Michael (keyboards) and $tephan (drums) exhibit equal parts precision and abandon. The music might be described as a thrilling union of rock elements cloaked in dance beats with synthy frills; it's a wonder they didn't call themselves Duran Duran Duran. And though the lyrics often evoke the darker moments of love gone wrong, Adam delivers them with such dynamic fervor that they bleed bright red with optimism.
Dot Dot Dot formed in 2007 when select members of the Fabulous Janes and Catfight (two well-known Chicago-based cover bands) joined forces. The plan was to bring their unique talents together to create a distinctive and dynamic live act, rather than to rely on a limited theme or particular music genre. Their remarkable mix of personalities stems from the members' varied backgrounds: Lisa raced as a professional mountain biker, while $tephan worked in the video game and computer industry. Rose grew up in a musical family on the island of Guam, and Michael went the university route in music theory and education. Adam worked in hardware stores as a youth, and is the one responsible for "playfully stealing" the band name from a former teenaged drum student. The band members live in Chicago, Oak Park, Aurora, and Palatine. All have spent most of their lives in the city and suburbs, with the exception of Rose, who moved to the mainland a decade ago.
The band has just begun a national commercial radio campaign with their track, Stay, and the early results show great promise: Five radio adds in the first two weeks plus an entrance into the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart at #93. One of the band's songs was recently licensed for Party City's international retail ad campaign. The band's 2009 release is a five-track EP of captivating pop songs, titled, I. It charted on the College Music Journal Top 200 chart and was spun on over 180 college radio stations across the country. A self-titled album, released in 2007, offers short, accessible pop songs that continue to resonate with fans at every live show. All of their music is available at their website, iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster, and elsewhere. A second EP is due in July, and a third is planned for release this winter.
Familiar to some as finalists on FOX TV's The Next Great American Band, the band has earned a reputation for delivering a non-stop spectacle of remarkable energy, engaging action, and passionate musicianship. Imerman Angels presents Summer in the City- the 3rd Annual Rooftop Party on Saturday, June 26 at Lakeshore Athletic Club, 1320 W. Fullerton in Lincoln Park.
From 6 p.m. - 10 p.m., kick off the summer season with some of Chicago's finest on one of the most amazing rooftops in the city!

Imerman Angels carefully matches and individually pairs a person touched by cancer (a cancer fighter or survivor) with someone who has fought and survived the same type of cancer (a Mentor Angel). Cancer caregivers (spouses, parents, children and other family and friends of fighters) also receive 1-on-1 connections with other caregivers and survivors. These 1-on-1 relationships inspire hope and offer the chance to ask personal questions and receive support from someone who is uniquely familiar with the experience.
