"Crosstown Classic" kicks off Friday

June 11, 2010 (CHICAGO)

On Friday, the Cubs-Sox series will take a backseat to the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup victory parade and rally.

The baseball game will go on, however, as the White Sox head to Wrigley Field, and this year the teams are playing for some hardware.

The winner of the series will take home a victory cup.

The whole undertaking is sponsored by oil giant BP. The company has a three-and-a-half year deal with the teams.

The deal was signed and announced just a week after the gulf oil spill.

The Cubs will head to the South Side to take on the Sox at U.S. Cellular Field later in June.
