A south suburban church honored the sacrifice of four graduates of Brother Rice High School Tuesday.

Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church holds a monthly Mass for those who serve in law enforcement and the military. Tuesday night's Mass was dedicated to Brother Rice graduates who died in the past year. Homewood firefighter Brian Carey was killed in a fire; Army Specialist Jared Stanker was killed in action in Afghanistan. Chicago police officers Alex Valadez and Thomas Wortham were both shot to death.

"Alex and Tom both were in the 7th district so they both were good guys and I think it's awesome that they do this," said Andy Turner, Chicago Police Department.

Turner says it has been a hard year for the 7th police district, where he served with Valadez and Wortham.
