Blue Island to pay $1M in elderly man's death

June 17, 2010 (BLUE ISLAND, Ill.) Back in October 2004, police were investigating reports of gang graffiti in an alley. Antonio Manrique was walking home with friends when officers ordered him to stop. He spoke little English, and a detective tackled him to the ground.

Manrique died four days later from his injuries.

Manrique's death was ruled a homicide. And it sparked protests and a lawsuit by his family.

A state police investigation concluded the officers acted within police policy.
